Looking at booking a berth in the next 6 months during cruising season?
At Breakwater, we've always accommodated all our new and returning visitors, and had flexibility to accept bookings any day, any time........... However, the last couple of years and into this new cruising season, we're seeing many more cruising boats looking to explore our tropical region and stay with us.
So a heads up to the cruising community, if you're planning to stay around tropical North Queensland and wanting to stay over again with us in Townsville, make sure you give us a call early and book a berth so we can get you all in.

At Breakwater Marina, we cater for all types of vessels from jet skis to small runabouts, sailing vessels, power boats, multihulls and superyachts.
We have 325 berths in the Marina basin ranging from 10m up to 45 metres, with our Marina community welcoming both short and long term visitors. All berths at Breakwater Marina are serviced with the traditional amenities including securely locked access gates with CCTV, modern power pedestals and fresh water to your vessel.
The Marina is compiled of 6 Cyclone-Rated Piers spanning from B Finger near ANZAC Parklands, out to G Finger located near the Marina entrance. The 24 Hour Fuel Wharf and adjacent Loading Wharf are located just as you enter the Marina entrance channel.
Thinking of Living Aboard with us?
There is a strong community of Live Aboards in the Marina that welcome our visitors as friends and neighbours, holding regular catch-ups and social events. If you are considering living aboard, you may be eligible for a discounted rate of GST which is outlined below.
Additional costs are included if you choose to live aboard your vessel during your Long Term Agreement – this “service fee” covers services and utilities that are attributed to the live-in agreements, like rubbish collection, waste facilities and cleaning the amenities.
= Full Rate Family $190 for 2 Adults + 2 Children (or $182.23 w/ 5.5% GST)
= Full Rate Single $160 (or $153.45 w/ 5.5% GST)
(Refer to Rates Sheet for Concessional 5.5% Rates for Permanent Liveaboards)
PETS: Pets are permitted at the discretion of the Marina Manager, dogs to be kept on leads.
NOTE: We advise that our Marina has no facilities for repairs – only approved minor maintenance with nominated contractors and tradespeople that report to the Marina Office prior to commencing any work after providing appropriate work cover insurance.
INSURANCE: All vessels occupying a Marina Berth are to be insured with a minimum $10,000,000 indemnity limit for damage caused to other vessels, property and bodily injury plus a total current market cover for own vessel.

Berth Allocation: At Breakwater, our team will try our best to allocate the most suitable berth for your needs - shorter term visits, longer stays or living aboard, we'll work with you to accommodate your boating needs. To allocate an appropriate berth, our staff will use your vessel’s overall length (i.e. including bowsprit, pulpit, anchor, davits, tenders & motors). On arrival, the Marina Manager may survey your vessel to confirm. If your boat exceeds the length or width of the nominated berth, we may need to allocate a larger berth size at the manager’s discretion.
Superyachts
At Breakwater Marina, we can accommodate visiting Superyachts up to 45m. We are conveniently situated in the City Centre close to local services, entertainment facilities or to simply stock-up, making our city an ideal place to stop-over. Speak to our Marina staff about tidal restrictions accessing the Marina Entrance channel which is dredged to -2.0m, with +3.5m depth in the Marina Basin. Power Requirements cater from 32amp, 63amp, 125amp to 415v power available at our selected Superyacht berths.

We are proud of our Marina Community and aim to provide a welcoming social environment for boaties. We value the importance for our tenants to feel safe & secure, whilst providing common areas for our vessel owners and guests to stretch their legs and unwind together. A brimming events and social calendar makes the most of our enviable tropical climate and renowned north Queensland spirit. Our dedicated social areas for indoor and outdoor entertaining are perfect for catching up with old friends and making new ones.
If you need more time to explore our tropical city, why not consider our "Stay 7-Pay 5" special offer for casual mooring, staying with us for 7 nights but pay for only 5 nights.

LONGER TERM BERTHING SOLUTIONS: Making a Sea-Change to Townsville? Along with our competitive casual rates, we also offer Monthly, Quarterly and 6 monthly rates on a longer term agreement for both Monohulls and Multihulls so you have the flexibility to choose which term suits your boating needs. We also offer special rates for living aboard with us in our Community.
MONTHLY Need Flexibility?
Our Monthly rate is a competitive and flexible rate for both short and long term stays. It’s payable monthly and you can add a casual or permanent live-on-board agreement as you need it.
QUARTERLY - Staying awhile?
With value in mind, we’ve designed our Quarterly rate to suit our medium term stays. It can be a recurring long term rate if you choose and you can a add live-on-board agreement to suit. This rate is payable only in 3-monthly blocks.
6 MONTHLY - Long term savings
Our best value rate for long termers to consider, and you can add a flexible monthly live-on-board agreement to suit which may be eligble for discounted GST. Speak to our Marina staff to help decide which berthing option suits your individual needs.
