Townsville is a tropical destination surrounded by secluded beaches that climb up into bio-diverse rainforests in the ranges and extend out into savannah plains of the outback. Townsville’s vibrant city centre, restaurants and entertainment precincts are all situated close to the Marina. Magnetic Island (Yunbenum) is 8kms off the shore from Townsville and boasts secluded beaches and bays bookended by rocky headlands, abundant wildlife and a thriving local community.

Hinchinbrook Island (Pouandai) is the biggest island on the Great Barrier Reef, but is completely uninhabited. To protect the Island's biodiversity and environment only 40 people are permitted to stay at any one time and is renowned for its cloud-cloaked mountains, mysterious wetlands and pristine beaches.

Pelorus Island (Yanooa/Guyroogarrie) is located 800 metres north of Orpheus Island and offers spectacular fringing reefs accessible straight off the beach, which make for a remarkable snorkel or dive experience on the Great Barrier Reef.

The traditional name for Orpheus Island is Goolboddi and is located north of Townsville, this secluded island is surrounded by 1300 hectares of national park. It is fringed by pristine coral reefs, making it a haven for snorkelling and diving.

Fantome Island (known as Eumilli Island) is a smaller island in the Palm Group and is 65 km north-east of Townsville. The island is secluded and small and is surrounded by a fringing coral reef. This island is steeped in colonial history with buildings remaining to explore.

To the northwest of Townsville in Halifax Bay lies Rattlesnake and Herald Islands which are used by the Defence Force. When the RAAF are not live firing, they also conduct survival courses on the secluded island.

The Palm Group are stunning secluded islands that offer a diverse mix of tropical island experiences, majestic anchorages and sandy beaches. The Manbarra traditional owners believe the group of islands were formed by a carpet python in the dreamtime.
