Road Closures affecting access to Marina this coming week

Road Closures affecting access to Marina this coming week

Important Message for our Marina Guests, Operators and Residents:  In the next week, there is Road & Carparking Closures for our Marina Community to be aware of that may affect access to Mariner's Drive and the Marina Precinct.

CARPARK CLOSED - from 5pm Tuesday 23rd April to 5pm Wednesday 24th April

 Dear Marina Customer,

RE: Notice of Temporary Closure of the G Pier Car Park Wednesday 24th April

A brief notice to you to let you know that the G Pier car park will be temporarily closed all day on Wednesday next week to facilitate a combination of car park remediation and the restoration of the boundary fence after it collapsed during TC Kirrily.

We’re taking the opportunity to replenish the stones across the car park and most importantly, we’re line marking each of the car park spaces. This will mean a more efficient use of the area to park as many cars as possible and with the right amount of separation to protect cars from damage.

The job requires the use of heavy machinery and so it’s necessary to keep people out of the work area for obvious reasons. Entry into G Gate and the use of the road leading down to the gatehouse will not be affected in any way – so dropping people and equipment off will be fine.

We ask that all cars are relocated from the G Pier car park no later than 5pm, Tuesday 23rd April to allow us to prepare the work area.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact the Marina Office.

With Thanks

The Breakwater Marina Team

Subject: Road Closures Affecting Mariner's Drive - THURSDAY 25th APRIL (ANZAC Day)

 Good afternoon Marina Community,

THURSDAY 25th April marks ANZAC Day and as you may be are aware, Breakwater Marina is directly adjacent to ANZAC Park.  These parklands are where the ANZAC Day Dawn Service Ceremony is held, followed by the ANZAC Parade which proceeds from Strand Park to finish at ANZAC Park.

From 5.20am Thursday morning, a Dawn Service will be held at the Anzac Park Cenotaph, followed later in the morning with the Anzac Day Parade from 9am.

In order to ensure the safe running of these two commemorations, two road closures will be in place on this day.

To summarise the road closures:

4.30am to 6.30am exit from Mariners Drive turning right only (towards the Waterpark).

6.30am to 7.30am - Roads OPEN (limited access)

From 7.30am, roads will be closed until the Parade passes Mariner's Drive.  (Parade will be leaving Strand Park at 9am heading towards ANZAC Park)

After the parade passes, up until approximately 11.00am there will be restricted access with exiting Mariners Drive turning LEFT ONLY onto The Strand.

PLEASE NOTE: In order to ensure that the impacts of the road closure are as minimal as possible, each intersection of The Strand will be re-opened to traffic once the parade has passed through and it is deemed safe to do so, however access is at the discretion of Event Officials.   For further information please call our Marina office or the Council or visit their website to learn more: TOWNSVILLE ANZAC DAY COMMEMORATIONS WEBSITE

*PLEASE NOTE*

  1. Wet Weather may affect the timing or cancellation of the road closures so please check with Council's notices for up to date information.
  2. Thursday is a Public Holiday in QLD so shops and outlets may be closed in respect to ANZAC Day.  However, Marina Staff will be onsite from 8am to 5pm everyday throughout this long weekend and can be contacted on 4721 2233 or VHF Channel 10 if you need assistance.

With thanks from the Breakwater team.
